Barangay Daking

Barangay Daking forms part of San Gabriel, a municipality in La Union, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Daking had a population of 894. This made it the 9th largest of 15 barangays in San Gabriel by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Daking accounted for approximately 4.72% of the total population of San Gabriel, which stood at 18,943 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,012 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 894 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -11.7%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Daking is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Gabriel is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Daking, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
