Situated in San Juan, Ilocos Sur, Barangay Lapting is one of 32 barangays that make up the municipality within Ilocos Region.

This made it the 5th largest of 32 barangays in San Juan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Lapting changed from 1,109 to 1,215, a shift of +9.6% over the five-year period.
