Barangay Malanday

Barangay Malanday is a large barangay in the municipality of San Mateo, located in the province of Rizal, in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Malanday had a population of 14,526. This made it the 7th largest of 15 barangays in San Mateo by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malanday accounted for approximately 5.31% of the total population of San Mateo, which stood at 273,306 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Malanday moving from 15,707 residents to 14,526 residents, an intercensal change of -7.5%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Malanday as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

San Mateo is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malanday, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Rizal, which contains 189 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Malanday ranks 53rd by 2020 population.
