Barangay Masisit

Barangay Masisit is a small barangay in the municipality of Sanchez-Mira, located in the province of Cagayan, in the Cagayan Valley region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Masisit had a population of 1,597. This made it the 7th largest of 18 barangays in Sanchez-Mira by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Masisit accounted for approximately 6.10% of the total population of Sanchez-Mira, which stood at 26,164 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Masisit changed from 1,712 to 1,597, a shift of -6.7% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Sanchez-Mira. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Masisit as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Sanchez-Mira is a municipality comprising 18 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Masisit, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cagayan, which contains 820 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Masisit ranks 283rd by 2020 population.
