Situated in Valencia, Bohol, Barangay Poblacion Occidental is one of 35 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion Occidental had a population of 1,449. This made it the 3rd largest of 35 barangays in Valencia by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion Occidental accounted for approximately 5.10% of the total population of Valencia, which stood at 28,392 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,508 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,449 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -3.9%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion Occidental as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Valencia is a municipality comprising 35 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion Occidental, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
