Barangay Fernandez

Barangay Fernandez is a small barangay in the municipality of Ma-Ayon, located in the province of Capiz, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Fernandez had a population of 710. This made it the 30th largest of 32 barangays in Ma-Ayon by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Fernandez accounted for approximately 1.72% of the total population of Ma-Ayon, which stood at 41,226 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 616 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 710 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +15.3%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Fernandez is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Ma-Ayon is a municipality comprising 32 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Fernandez, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Capiz, which contains 473 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Fernandez ranks 402nd by 2020 population. Capiz is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.
