Barangay Lower Mainit

Barangay Lower Mainit is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Malungon, located in the province of Sarangani, in the SOCCSKSARGEN region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Lower Mainit had a population of 2,205. This made it the 19th largest of 31 barangays in Malungon by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Lower Mainit accounted for approximately 2.09% of the total population of Malungon, which stood at 105,465 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Lower Mainit changed from 2,344 to 2,205, a shift of -5.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Malungon. Barangay Lower Mainit is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Malungon is a municipality comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Lower Mainit, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Sarangani, which contains 141 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Lower Mainit ranks 95th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
