Barangay Upper Biangan

Situated in Malungon, Sarangani, Barangay Upper Biangan is one of 31 barangays that make up the municipality within SOCCSKSARGEN.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Upper Biangan had a population of 3,040. This made it the 12th largest of 31 barangays in Malungon by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Upper Biangan accounted for approximately 2.88% of the total population of Malungon, which stood at 105,465 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,717 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,040 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +11.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Upper Biangan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Malungon is a municipality comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Upper Biangan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Sarangani, which contains 141 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Upper Biangan ranks 71st by 2020 population.
