Barangay Barcelona

Situated in Solsona, Ilocos Norte, Barangay Barcelona is one of 22 barangays that make up the municipality within Ilocos Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Barcelona had a population of 1,405. This made it the 5th largest of 22 barangays in Solsona by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Barcelona accounted for approximately 5.65% of the total population of Solsona, which stood at 24,851 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,331 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,405 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +5.6%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Barcelona as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Solsona is a municipality comprising 22 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Barcelona, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Ilocos Norte, which contains 559 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Barcelona ranks 127th by 2020 population.
