This made it the 6th largest of 31 barangays in City of Valencia by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Banlag accounted for approximately 3.80% of the total population of City of Valencia, which stood at 216,546 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 7,099 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 8,220 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +15.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Banlag is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Valencia is a city comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Banlag, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
