Barangay Batangan

Barangay Batangan is a large barangay in the City of Valencia, located in the province of Bukidnon, in the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Batangan had a population of 14,276. This made it the 3rd largest of 31 barangays in City of Valencia by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Batangan accounted for approximately 6.59% of the total population of City of Valencia, which stood at 216,546 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 11,550 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 14,276 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +23.6%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Batangan is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Valencia is a city comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Batangan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Bukidnon, which contains 464 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Batangan ranks 7th by 2020 population. Bukidnon is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
